BoC, good observation. I wonder how many from the community will show up for the funeral talk. I think it does more harm than good when the funeral is basically just another talk. I know my mom's worldly family were not impressed by my mom's funeral. Leslie

Letter From Whitney's Mother
by breakfast of champions injust saw this on google news.
link to letter here.. .
dear family, i want to tell you that although this has been the worst of my lifes tribulations, that i am still standing.. the obvious reason is that jehovah is the faithful keeper of promises holding to his word that never, would his great love allow his precious children to be tested beyond what we could bear.

Watchtower Corporation enters new business to help sheeples see that the end is very, very near!
by Billy the Ex-Bethelite inmy dad heard from the co who heard from a do that heard from his brother-in-law that heard from the friend of a governing body's wife, that the gb is getting very concerned that "the friends" are losing sight of the nearness of the panda-petting paradise.
many of these friends are also looking too critically at the "spiritual food" provided by the "faithful slave class.".
don't tell anyone else, but i hear that the gb has begun testing something new on some of the sheeple.

long time study
by happy-n-alive inso i am 20 now and i had my first study when i was 14. no jehovahs witness relatives and i am currently in my second book with one more chapter to go.
the reason it took so long is because it started out very sporadic andd short.
anyways, a friend and i were talking and i said i dont think i want to get baptise anytime soon and she said they may want to 'see a return on their investment' -_- so my question is if any witnesses ever got pushy with you about taking the next step after you have studied with them a long time.

Welcome. Do not feel guilt if you decide to end your study. Why you may ask? The reason is that the ones studying with you are benefitting from being able to count the time they spend studying with you, on a little slip of paper collected at the end of the month. To a JW this beats knocking on doors and is what is considered "easy time".
Happy and Alive, you may as well change your name to Miserable and Half-dead, because that is how you will feel after you are baptized and realize all the rules that will suck the life out of you.
Please thoroughly research everything about this religion from outside unbiased sources. I wasted 48 years of my life as a JW. Leslie

I feel very sorry for Whitney's mother. The shock that comes from a horrible tragedy like this can numb the emotions for a time. I experienced the same thing when my mother passed. It is a crutch that interrupts the grieving process and it eventually catches up with you later. As another poster mentioned, it is not healthy. -Leslie-

Thinking of changing my life/ long rant
by DATA-DOG ini want to drastically change my life.
i am stagnating and will eventually drive my truck into an oncoming semi truck.
short of faking my death there are only so many things i can do.

Data Dog. You have experienced the typical life of a JW, spinning your wheels and getting no where. I believe Panhandlegirl's comment is right on "...your daughter will benefit from your example". If you go back to school this may be the key to opening a door of discussion regarding how difficult it is to make a living without higher education. Your own example of why you find yourself working such long hours may get her thinking. Best of luck, at least you are on the right track, and as Quendi mentioned, it's never too late. Leslie

Live, and Let Live!
by SophieG inhey lovely, people!.
well, i think my family is going to leave me alone.
as long as i shut it and dont rock their boat, i think i will be able to keep the ties.

That's wonderful news Sophie. Your strategy seems to be working so far. I hope you will be able to keep your relationship with your family. When they start the JW blah, blah, blah just zone out and "go to a happy place" lol. I like your mantra of just telling them how happy you are. Leslie

Forget the Watchtower,...we are celebrating Christmas
by trailerfitter inlast year i banned a bible class from my house on christmas eve because i took the impression they were coming to gloat over taking my wife away with them.
i celebrated the seasons festivities with my son.
this year, now i am seperated from her i will be having my son around to celebrate the festivities, i will be seeing him take part in the school nativity play (even if i am and atheist).

congratulations Trailerfitter. It does not matter whether you are an atheist or a believer. Christmas means something different to everybody but what we all share together is the joy of getting together with our loved ones. That is great that your son will be in the nativity play and that you are going to be there to support him. He will never forget this as he grows older. I am truly happy for you. Leslie

Hope you're feeling better soon Loz. I like to wrap up in a cozy quilt, curl up on the couch with a hot cup of herbal tea and throw in a DVD and just veg out. Leslie
